| Washington Canal Park
Washington Canal Park will be the first public park built as part of the District's An acostia Waterfront initiative through a unique public-private funding arrangement. Located on three narrow blocks along the route of the historic Washington Canal near the Washington Nationals' new stadium, the site was once a canal that connected the Anacostia River to the US Capitol and the Potomac River. Washington Canal Park will be the centerpiece of an emerging high density, mixed-use, development district that includes the new US Department of Transportation headquarters and the Capper Carrollsburg neighborhood.
