Park Morton New Community Redevelopment Solicitation for Offers

Park Morton

Park Morton is the District's fourth New Communities Initiative project. The program aims to transform chronically troubled, low-income neighborhoods into healthy mixed-income neighborhoods that protect housing for low-income residents with a one-for-one replacement of existing affordable housing around improved community anchors such as schools, parks and recreation centers. New Communities also stresses the importance of rebuilding the social infrastructure through linkages to job training, asset building, counseling and other supportive human services.

On December 3, 2008, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) released an amended Solicitation for Offers for the redevelopment of the Park Morton community.

The solicitation seeks development partners to transform the Park Morton public housing project on Park Road and Morton Street, NW into at least 477 units of mixed-income housing.

The Park Morton Redevelopment Solicitation highlights include the following:

  • Redevelopment of twelve public housing buildings on a 3.66-acre site
  • Relocation of impacted households into Ward 1 mixed-income developments
  • Redevelopment of site into at least 477 mixed-income units
  • Set aside of approximately 174 units as public housing units for returning Park Morton residents (30 percent AMI or below)
  • Create amenities that place realistic demands on area infrastructure (including parking)
  • Satisfy requirements of the District's Green Building Act of 2006

The Park Morton New Community Redevelopment - Amended and Restated Solicitation for Offers proposal deadline is 4 pm EST on February 27, 2009.  Please utilize the links below.
