Narrative Description
The Fort Davis Shopping Center, located in Ward 7 at the corner of Pennsylvania and Alabama Avenues SE, sits along one of the District's targeted Great Streets but fails to attract quality retail partly because of an antiquated facade and outdated infrastructure.

In an effort to meet the retail needs of the surrounding community, Alabama/Fort Davis LLC purchased the site in June 2007 and Developed a plan to revitalize the shopping center with the goal of recasting the tenant mix and establishing a sit-down restaurant in one of the soon-to-be vacated spaces. in support of this effort, the District granted Alabama/Fort Davis LLC a facade improvement grant in the amount of $345,792 for facade and lighting improvements, and safety upgrades.
