District Requests Expressions of Interest for Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station
(WASHINGTON, DC) The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and the Office of Planning today released a Request for Expressions of Interest* (RFEI) to develop the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station as part of Mayor Williams' neighborhood revitalization goals.
One possible use for this site is District Government office space. However, before advancing that use, the District would like to assess the market for non-governmental uses for the property. Consequently, the purpose of this RFEI is to gauge the private sector interest in redeveloping the site consistent with the Mayor's Neighborhood Revitalization Goals. The Mayor's Neighborhood Revitalization Goals embrace ten strategies to build strong, vibrant neighborhoods:
- Building Strategic Neighborhood Action Plans (SNAPs)
- Generating Quality Housing
- Eliminating Blight (Home Again)
- Taking Advantage of Transit (TOD)
- Enhancing Neighborhood Commercial Centers (reSTORE DC)
|
- Modernizing and Re-envisioning Schools
- Creating New Neighborhoods
- Partnering with Anchor Institutions
- Delivering Quality Services and Public Realm (NSI)
- Investing in Strategic Areas
|
The two most important revitalization strategies for the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station site are Building Neighborhood Action Plans and Taking Advantage of Transit (TOD). Development teams are invited to submit a response that describes the proposed use or uses, describes the development team and prior project experience.
Letters of interest from respondents to the RFEI are due September 16 at 4 pm. After evaluating the submissions, the District will convene community workshops to share responses and confirm community priorities for this area. Following this process, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued for the development and disposition of this site. All questions regarding this solicitation and letters of interest should be directed to the Special Assistant, Housing & Special Projects in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development at dbracey-eom@dcgov.org. * This document is presented in Portable Document Format (PDF).
