Home Again Makes Next 16 Properties Available, Selects 2 New Developers

(Washington, DC) Today, the District's Home Again Initiative made its next 16 properties available for disposition in Bellevue, Deanwood, Columbia Heights, Shaw and Trinidad. The properties offered include vacant lots and buildings.

Since January 2002, Home Again has helped convert more than 250 formerly vacant properties back into productive reuse by encouraging the owners to rehabilitate the property or dispose of the property to a prequalified developer.

Bids for the current 16 properties are due Wednesday, July 14, 2004.

Two New Developers Join the Family

Home Again also selected two more developers to turn 11 vacant and abandoned properties into 29 new or renovated homes:

  • Castle Development, a Washington, DC-based developer, was conditionally awarded five vacant and abandoned properties in Shaw, Columbia Heights and Deanwood. Castle's project would produce eight new units, four of which will be affordable, to homeowners making less than 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
