District Expo Highlights Ward 7 Revitalization Initiatives

Plans for Next New Community in Lincoln Heights Underway

(Washington, DC) District officials will join Lincoln Heights residents and community stakeholders at 6:30 pm Tuesday, February 28, to discuss Mayor Anthony A. William’s New Communities initiative and other Ward 7 planning efforts for the surrounding neighborhood.

Tuesday’s community meeting marks the District’s first public announcement to add Lincoln Heights as the second New Communities project. Mayor Williams intends to stabilize the District’s most distressed neighborhoods by transforming them into mixed-income communities that protect housing for the poor and create increased opportunities through better jobs, improved education, vocational training and human services.

Exhibits and project experts will provide additional developments slated for Ward 7 such as the Deanwood Redevelopment Plan and Nannie Helen Burroughs Great Streets initiative.
