DMPED Partners with Public and Private Companies to Host Two Economic Development Seminars

(Washington, DC) Stanley Jackson, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, has announced two "Economic Development Seminars" to be held during the month of December.

The first seminar "Revenue Bond Financing" will be held on December 6, 2006 from 8:00 to 11:00 am at the Reed Smith Penthouse located at 1301 K Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005. The sponsors for this seminar are Reed Smith, LLP; M&T Bank; Ballard, Sphar and Ingersoll; and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey.

The second seminar "Emerging Development Opportunities" will be held on December 13, 2006 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel located at 1330 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20024. The sponsors for this event are Ballard, Sphar and Ingersoll; Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliff, LLP; and PNC Bank.

"Despite our growing client base, a large percentage of domestic non-profit and for-profit entities remain unaware of their eligibility, or have little knowledge about the most significant cost savings associated with tax-exempt bond financing," said Michael Hodge, Director of the DC Revenue Bonds and Enterprise Zones programs. "This seminar will help fulfill this need."

"We continue to provide the District with a plethora of development opportunities and incentives," said Deputy Mayor Jackson. "We have invited numerous organization executives and service organizations, financial officers, community development corporations, real estate brokers, public-finance attorneys, developers, accountants and bankers. We strongly encourage the attendance of those who wish to learn more about the emerging opportunities," he added.
